🔥 Fireproof Safes NZ
Fire-rated safes that protect your documents, cash and valuables when it matters most. Tested fire protection from Wertheim, CMI and Chubbsafes — with expert advice on the right rating for your insurance and your risk.
Choosing a fireproof safe in New Zealand
A house fire can exceed 800°C in minutes — hot enough to destroy passports, property deeds, insurance policies, cash and family photos long before the fire service arrives. A genuine fire-rated safe is independently tested to keep its contents below charring temperature for a defined period, typically 30 or 60 minutes.
Not all “fire resistant” safes are equal. Cheap imported boxes often quote untested claims, while certified models from Chubbsafes, Wertheim and CMI are tested to recognised international standards. Many of our fire-rated models also carry certified burglary grades (EN 14450 and EN 1143-1), so a single safe can satisfy both your fire risk and your insurer’s security requirements.
Every fireproof safe we sell includes professional delivery, and bolt-down installation is available across Auckland. Not sure what rating you need? Visit our Mt Roskill showroom or call 09 620 6049 for straightforward advice.

Fireproof safe FAQs
What does a fire rating like "30 minutes" or "1 hour" actually mean?
A fire rating is the length of time a safe has been tested to keep its internal temperature below the point where paper chars (around 177°C) while exposed to furnace temperatures similar to a house fire. A 30-minute rated safe protects documents through a typical residential fire; 60-minute and longer ratings suit larger buildings or higher-risk locations where a fire may burn longer before being extinguished.
Will a fireproof safe also protect USB drives, hard drives and photos?
Not automatically. Digital media and photographic film are damaged at much lower temperatures (around 52–65°C) than paper. Standard document-rated safes are tested for paper protection. If you need to protect digital media, talk to us about media-rated options or using a fire-rated data insert inside a document safe.
Are fireproof safes also burglar-resistant?
Fire protection and burglary protection are separate ratings. Many of our fire-rated safes, such as the Wertheim ZS series (Grade S2 EN 14450) and Chubbsafes Senator (EN 1143-1), carry certified burglary grades as well as fire protection, so one safe can cover both risks. We will help you match the right combination to your insurance requirements.
Do you deliver and install fireproof safes outside Auckland?
Yes. Our showroom is in Mt Roskill, Auckland, where you can compare fire-rated models in person, and we arrange delivery throughout New Zealand. Professional installation, including bolt-down anchoring, is available across the Auckland region.
