Master Key Systems for Supermarkets & Retail

One key per person, access only where they need it, and no unauthorised copies. Restricted key systems for supermarkets and retail stores across Auckland.

The key problem every store has

A busy supermarket can have dozens of people holding keys: managers, night fill, deli, bakery, receiving, cleaners and contractors. Staff change often, keys go home in pockets, and a standard key can be copied at the mall in minutes. Before long nobody really knows who can open the cash office.

A restricted master key system fixes this. We have been the locksmith behind supermarket key systems in Auckland for years, and we design each one around how the store actually runs.

A typical store key plan

  • Store manager: one master key that opens every door in the store.
  • Department managers: keys for their own department, chillers and storerooms.
  • Receiving and night fill: loading dock, back of house and storerooms only.
  • Cash office and safe room: restricted to the people who handle cash.
  • Contractors and cleaners: numbered keys for just the areas they service.
  • Area managers: optionally, one key across several stores.

Padlocks for trolley bays, gates, cages and gas bottle stores can be keyed into the same system.

Locks and safes from one supplier

Because we are also safe engineers, we can look after the cash side too: deposit and drop safes for tills, graded commercial safes for the cash office, plus electronic safe locks with time delay and audit trails.

Frequently asked questions

We have high staff turnover. How does a master key system help?

Every key is numbered and recorded against the person who holds it, and nobody can get a copy without written authority. When someone leaves without returning a key you know exactly which doors are affected, and only those cylinders need re-keying.

Can different departments have different access?

Yes, that is the point of a master key hierarchy. Night fill might open the loading dock and storeroom, department managers their own areas, and only senior managers the cash office and safe room. Store managers carry one key that opens everything they are responsible for.

Can you work across multiple stores?

Yes. A multi-site system can give area managers one key for every store in their region, while each store keeps its own local keys. EVVA 4KS is well suited to this because of its very large number of key combinations.

Do you install outside trading hours?

We plan installs around your trading to keep disruption low. Cylinder changes are quick, and we will agree timing with your store manager before we start.
