Key control for buildings with many key holders
Offices, warehouses, schools and multi-tenant buildings have the same problem: lots of people need keys, those people change, and ordinary keys get copied without anyone knowing. Re-keying a whole building every time a key goes missing is expensive and disruptive.
A restricted master key system gives every key holder one key for the doors they need, keeps a numbered record of every key, and means new keys can only be cut by us on your signed authority.
Where we install them
- Offices: staff, executive, comms and records rooms on separate levels of access.
- Multi-tenant buildings: each tenancy separate, with a building master for common areas and plant.
- Warehouses and distribution: dock doors, cages, high value stock areas and padlocked yards.
- Schools and campuses: classrooms, offices, sheds and gates on one hierarchy.
- Banks and cash handling: our highest security work, typically on EVVA 4KS.
Doors, hardware and safes too
Beyond the key system we supply and fit commercial door hardware: deadlocks, latchsets, digital and electronic mortice locks, electric strikes, hinge power transfers and door closers. We also supply key cabinets and tags to keep spare keys organised, and commercial safes for records and cash.
Frequently asked questions
We manage a building with several tenants. Can each tenant have their own keys?
Yes. Each tenancy gets its own key set that only opens its own doors, while the building manager holds a master for common areas, plant rooms and every tenancy for emergencies. When a tenant leaves, only their cylinders are re-keyed.
Who can authorise new keys?
You decide. We hold a list of nominated signatories for the system, typically the property or facilities manager, and we only cut keys on a signed request from one of them.
Can you work with our existing door hardware?
In most cases, yes. Restricted cylinders are made to suit common New Zealand locks, so we usually only swap the cylinders. Where doors need new locks, closers, electric strikes or power transfers, we supply and fit those too.
Can the system grow as the building changes?
Yes. Restricted systems are designed with spare capacity, so new doors, fit-outs and tenancies can be added to the existing hierarchy without starting over.
